This performance is a special event premiering The Arena, a new work by performance artist Shaun “El Conquistador” Leonardo, in conjunction with the CAMH exhibition Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art. In The Arena, Leonardo and his opponent will enact a battle reminiscent of a Greco-Roman wrestling match, transposed against a dream-like stage where issues of male intimacy, hyper-masculine ideals and violence are reconsidered.
