“Imagination is what created everything”
What was the first moment that you envisioned yourself as an actor?
I watched The Preachers Wife, and Denzel Washington played an angel, and I remembered him being excellent and enigmatic. So, I envisioned myself doing the same.
Do you watch your previous performances?
I do. I learn a lot. Sometimes what you think is going on in your head is different from what you may see. But I try not to get too caught up in it. Once or twice is enough for me.
We often think about the power of the audacious mind and how that enables one to achieve. How do confidence, visualization, and audacity play a role in your work?
It plays a huge role. Imagination is what created everything we have around us today. It’s a potent tool when it comes to the tenacity and pursuing your dream. It’s what’s kept me going, basically.
If your life had a soundtrack, what song must be on it?
Describe your morning routine.
I don’t have a set routine, but I’ll shower, and brush my teeth with an album or playlist in the background, pending what mood I’m in or what mood I want to get in.
Describe your night routine.
A herbal tea, shower, then brush your teeth. I sometimes read a couple of book pages before bed or scripts.
What’s a film or play you can watch over and over again?
Training Day or Paid in Full
In this season of Bridgerton, what should we look forward to?
More of the same but with a twist and some very exciting new faces. I don’t want to give too much away, you see. Also, Will Mondrich opens a gentleman’s club, so we’ll see how that goes down.
Tell us about the first time your mom (or a family member) saw you on the series.
It was a very proud moment – I had my family in the same room, and there was a lot of cheering and clapping.
What is next for you?
I can’t say for now, but all will be revealed in due time.
