What did you dream about last night?
CJ
My friend was talking about some net art project he was working on where he was shifting the color of people’s skin with coding. I said: “that sounds funny” irl and woke myself up.

ASCT
What are you the most afraid of?
CJ
Probably people who I don’t have much in common with.

ASCT
What are you secretly obsessed with?
CJ
My nostalgia rolls over its contents pretty obsessively.

ASCT
What do you see here?

CJ
Honestly, I see some dancing fruit in the top center. It has a turnip head with a leafy headdress, large earrings, and it’s waving its leaf arms in mid-gyration. I wish that weren’t my answer, but I can’t seem to even contrive anything else.

ASCT
What got you into the most trouble as a kid?
CJ
I used to write my name on stuff and then deny it was me. Like a bunch of times.

ASCT
Have you done anything recently you want to remember?
CJ
I explored a part of Providence I’d never been to before. It’s residential so it’s pretty empty. It was cold, overcast, I was listening to Arvo Pärt and Clams Casino intermittently, and I passed by a lot of things that are empty on the weekends, like high schools and soccer fields. It was ghosty and New Englandy, and it was beautiful. Now I’m sort of sounding one note–but it’s true that somehow the only distinct and precious memories I have, with the exception perhaps of some moments in love, are all just sensorially consuming walks. Also my window faces in the direction of that neighborhood, so now my room feels different, which is nice.

ASCT
Name an activity that makes you loose track of time.
CJ
Welding.

ASCT
What do you look at first when you wake up?
CJ
My iPhone

ASCT
Most memorable time a person motivated you to do something?
CJ
My friend got me to go four hours round trip to Far Rockaway one night last summer for Burning Fleshtival. The motivating itself wasn’t that memorable I guess, just some enthusiastic texts, but the night was.
